The Outdoor Adventure package is designed to be a weekday adventure to Hot Springs, NC. Reservations are available Sunday through Thursday. Here is what you can expect on your trip.

What to expect

Day 1 – Arrival

Travel day to Hot Springs, NC. Check-in (after 3pm) at the #1 rated hotel in Hot Springs, The Iron Horse Inn, a TripAdvisor “Bravo!” award winner. Enjoy dinner at our award-winning Iron Horse Restaurant. After dinner, head upstairs to the Inn for a night of rest before your journey begins.

Day 2 – Hike & Relax

Start your day with breakfast provided by us. After your meal, it will be time to depart on a 1/2 day hike on the Appalachian Trail. Shuttles will be provided.

After arriving back to Hot Springs in mid-afternoon for lunch, it will be time for your soak in the naturally heated mineral water springs at the World Famous Hot Springs Resort and Spa. You will then return for a dinner at the Iron Horse Restaurant and retire to your room for the next days activities.

Day 3 – Your choice

On the third day, you will have three choices of activity. Start your day with breakfast, then pick either a 1/2 day whitewater rafting excursion down The French Broad River, a 1-hour massage at the Hot Springs Resort and Spa, or a zip-lining adventure through the Blue Ridge Mountains. After your day is over, you will return to The Iron Horse Station for dinner and a place to wind-down after your eventful three days.

At your pace

After your chosen daily activities, there will be time allotted for you to explore Hot Springs at your own leisure. Visit locally owned shops and galleries, learn history about this old-time recreation town, take a walk around Bridge St. to get a feel for small-town life, or take a walk down by The French Broad River to relax. There are plenty of things in Hot Springs to keep you entertained.

Day 4 – Departure

The final day, breakfast will be provided at The Iron Horse Station. Check out will be at 11am to depart towards your next destination.

What you’ll be doing

The Outdoor Adventure package is full of experiences you won’t find anywhere else. Here is what you can expect on your 4-day, 3-night all-inclusive trip to beautiful Hot Springs, NC.


We will provide a shuttle to Mills Ridge for a half-day hike. Follow the white-blazes of The Appalachian Trail for 5 miles (very little elevation gain) back to Hot Springs. Along well-maintained path, you will experience beautiful vistas and many photo-opportunities. The trail will lead you to the popular Lover’s Leap, which overlooks the town of Hot Springs and The French Broad River. Take the path down the mountain and follow The French Broad to Bridge St., which will lead you straight to The Iron Horse Station.

Natural Mineral Bath

After spending the day hiking through the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains, rest your legs and mind with a 1-hour soak at the World Famous Hot Springs Resort and Spa. Ancient healing mineral water is fed into clean modern jacuzzi-style tubs. Unwind in the natural spring water along The Spring Creek or The French Broad River.


Get ready for a whitewater rafting expedition down The French Broad River! This guided half-day excursion will take you through Class I-IV rapids in the heart of The Blue Ridge Mountains.

Zip Lining

Want to get your heart racing even further? Fly through the trees of the mighty Appalachian Mountains. Zips, rappels, and short hikes will let you see the mountains like you never have before.


Relax with a massage at the World Famous Hot Springs Resort and Spa. Their licensed therapists will work with you to get rid of any stress or tension you may be feeling.

Where you’ll stay

Your package will include a 3-night stay (Sun-Thur) at The Iron Horse Station Inn, the #1 TripAdvisor ranked hotel in Hot Springs, NC. The Iron Horse Station is a historic inn located right off of the Appalachian Trail in downtown Hot Springs.

Pullman or Pullman Sleeper Rooms

You will be staying in a Pullman or Pullman Sleeper room, named after rail cars created by George Pullman in 1862. Pullman sleeper cars were designed to accommodate railroad passengers in comfortable beds as they made their journey via train.

Rooms hold an old-style charm and comfort, while offering an abundance of modern convenience, such as sky-lignts, air-conditioning and private baths.

The Restaurant wraps around the Iron Horse Station’s monumental fireplace, and features a friendly dining atmosphere with exceptional regional fare. From delicious southern comfort cuisine to specialized organic dishes, made with fresh and locally grown ingredients, you will be sure to find something to match your tastes.


At points during your stay, live musical performers will be entertaining in the restaurant downstairs. The restaurant also has a tavern if you choose to unwind with a a glass of wine or a pint from a wide-array of local beers.
